Every artist/band must have written songs with the word “love” in their title/song at one point of time. Listening to any “love song” brings out the most in your emotions, be it Sadness, Joy , Trust , Anticipation or anxiousness. There are over 100 of “love songs” which are really good, but here is my list of the “Top 10 Love Songs of All Time” .
10. Lady In Red – Chris DeBurgh
“Lady In Red by” is a love song written and sung by Irish-British singer-songwriter Chris DeBurgh. It was released on June 1986 and is the fourth song of the album “Into the Light”. It was on the number one spot on the UK Singles charts, Norway (VG-lista) charts, Ireland (IRMA)charts, Belgium (VRT Top 30 Flanders) charts and Canada (RPM) charts. It did not top the US Adult Contemporary (Billboard) charts, but managed to get the no.2 spot.
9. My Heart Will Go On – Celine Dion
“My Heart Will Go On” is the main theme song of the 1997 super blockbuster movie Titanic. This love song hit the number one charts in most of the countries apart from the Japanese Singles Chart and New Zealand Singles Chart, with their highest position being 34th. However, this Celine Dion classic went Gold in Japan (Recording Industry Association of Japan) for cellphone digital downloads.
For the 41st Annual Grammy Awards , “My Heart Will Go On” received a total of four awards, which included Record of the Year, Song of the Year (James Horner and Will Jennings), Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Song Written for a Motion Picture or for Television.
8. It Must Have Been Love – Roxette
This epic love song was written by Per Gessle and recorded by Swedish pop group Roxette. It Must Have Been Love was sung by Marie Fredriksson, who also plays the piano and guitar. It Must Have Been Love by Roxette failed to top the Swedish Single Charts, but was number one in Norway, Switzerland, Poland, Australia and the United States.
7. Please Forgive Me – Bryan Adams
“Please Forgive Me” is one of my favorite love songs by Bryan Adams. Some people do not like Bryan Adams for his corny lyrics, but hey, every artist at some point of time those lyrics. Please Forgive Me was written by Bryan Adams and Mutt Lange and was released as a bonus track for the 1993 album So Far So Good.
The guitar parts and tone of this song is quite exceptional. I am not 100% sure about this but I think it was Shane Fontayne on guitars for this track. Ladies and gentlemen, Lucky number seven on my Top 10 Love Songs of All Time is Bryan Adams’, Please forgive me.
6. Wicked Game – Chris Isaak
The lyrics to the love song “Wicked Game” has to be one of the best heart broken songs of all time. To write these lyrics, Chris Isaak must have really got dumped by a girl whom he really loved. The first time I heard this song, I could literally feel Isaak’s pain.
Wicked Game was released in 1989 and present in the album “Heart Shaped World”. This love song got recognition after it was featured in the OST Wild at Heart in 1990. It was the seventh track from the album and that was lucky number 7 for Chris Isaak.
5.Careless Whisper – George Michael
This has to be my favorite George Michael song of all time. If it wasn’t for the saxophone intro, then this song wouldn’t have got that much recognition as it did. The saxophone really completes this song and I do not see any other instrument replacing it. Careless Whisper was released on 24th of July 1984 in the UK and seven months later in the United States.
This love song went Platinum in the United States, United Kingdom, Nederlands and Canada.

4. Unchained Melody – Righteous Brothers
“Unchained Melody” is a love song composed by Alex North and the lyrics were written by Hy Zaret.The first / original version of “Unchained Melody” was sung by American baritone opera singer Todd Duncan. This song was featured in a 1955 prison film “Unchained”.

3. Nothing Compares 2 U- Sinead O’Connor
Nothing Compares 2 U is composed and written by Prince for his side project “The Family”. In 1990, Irish singer-songwriter Sinead O’Connor covered this song and it was featured in her 2nd studio album “I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got”. On number 3 of this Top 10 Love Songs of All Time list, we have Sinead O’Connor’s Nothing Compares 2 U.
2. Iris – Goo Goo Dolls
iris is a love song written by american alternative rock band Goo Goo Dolls. This is was written for the 1998 film City of Angels and is featured in the O.S.T. The band from Buffalo, NY, made it big when their song Iris reached the number one spot of the Hot 100 Airplay chart and it remained there for 18 weeks.
Iris was nominated for the Record of the Year in the 41st Annual Grammy Awards, but lost to Celine Dion, “My Heart Will Go On”, which is number 9 on this top 10 love song list.

Always by Bon Jovi, is one of the most brilliantly composed and sung to perfection love song ever. This song topped charts in Australia and the United Kingdom, but it failed to top the US charts. The Billboard Year-End Hot 100 singles of 1994 placed Always on the 91st position, but on his Top 10 Love Songs of All Time Bon Jovi’s Always takes the number one spot
